Monarch Hall Licensed Practical Nurse Donna Maiden.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

As a Licensed Practical Nurse at Monarch Hall in Riverview, NB, Donna Maiden is living her passion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From performing assessments to providing a warm blanket or giving residents a hug, their wellbeing is always top of mind. Each day, when she returns home, she knows she\u2019s making a difference in their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This summer, during one of her shifts, Donna was having a conversation with a new resident in his room. On this day, the man was feeling emotional. His family lives away and he doesn\u2019t get many visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When she looked around the room, she noticed the walls were bare. After she left, she put on her thinking cap and came up with a plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI reached out to the community, and I was able to gather a carload of items,\u201d she says. \u201cThere\u2019s paintings that people have painted, puzzles, throw blankets, small decorations, and many items to help make his room feel warm and inviting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once the items were collected, Donna brought them to the resident on her day off. When she arrived, his eyes lit up and a smile danced across his lips. He was so overcome with excitement that tears of joy ran down his face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s important that we make sure that our seniors are taken care of, and they feel like they are in their home,\u201d she says. \u201cTo me, that\u2019s my most important role.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
