Since its launch, this&nbsp;community giving&nbsp;program has supported 40 organizations and&nbsp;provided&nbsp;valuable insight into the needs of older adults across New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Ontario.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nine&nbsp;additional&nbsp;organizations&nbsp;were selected to receive a&nbsp;Community Spirit Grant supporting&nbsp;their efforts in promoting&nbsp;wellness, active living, and social connections for older adults.&nbsp;Here\u2019s&nbsp;a look at the organizations and the important work&nbsp;they\u2019re&nbsp;doing:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:60%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/shannex.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ShannexCares_logo.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26767\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shannex.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ShannexCares_logo.png 1800w, https:\/\/shannex.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ShannexCares_logo-300x100.png 300w, https:\/\/shannex.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ShannexCares_logo-1024x341.png 1024w, https:\/\/shannex.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ShannexCares_logo-768x256.png 768w, https:\/\/shannex.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ShannexCares_logo-1536x512.png 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1800px) 100vw, 1800px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:35px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New Brunswick<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.justfriendsfoodbank.com\/just-friends-food-bank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Just Friends Food Bank Inc.<\/a>&nbsp;supports&nbsp;nutrition for older adults by delivering wholesome, diet-specific meals and expanding soup and nutrition programs to reach&nbsp;older&nbsp;adults in need.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crmhaa.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Capital Region Mental Health &amp; Addictions Association<\/a>&nbsp;creates safe, inclusive spaces for older adults to connect, build skills, and access mental health resources through tailored programs and activities.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/alzheimer.ca\/nb\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick<\/a>&nbsp;provides education, advocacy, and caregiver support to reduce the impact of dementia, with expanded networks for English and French-speaking caregivers.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/openskyco-op.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Open Sky Cooperative Ltd.<\/a>&nbsp;connects&nbsp;older adults with neurodivergent young adults in a shared community space, fostering intergenerational friendships, reducing isolation, and strengthening community belonging through mutual support.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Nova Scotia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/moceandance.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mocean Dance<\/a>&nbsp;promotes&nbsp;physical and mental wellness for older adults through accessible dance and movement programs that reduce isolation and encourage social connection.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/spaydaynovascotia.wpcomstaging.com\/?fbclid=IwY2xjawOvk3tleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETF5OEFRUVRad1o5Rzg0eFhDc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHpEDY-hA7JPamzaua80T9IPdn5NtdEoA9fNTSBdKjpBORUMd_107_bAhRYIL_aem_vOzFTaY7nTy3hIWdhnFcNQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Spay Day HRM Society<\/a>&nbsp;enhances&nbsp;the wellbeing of&nbsp;older adults&nbsp;by supporting pet companionship through cat visits, rehoming&nbsp;assistance, and spay\/neuter services for low-income&nbsp;individuals.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ontario<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ywcahamilton.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">YWCA Hamilton<\/a>\u2019s Seniors Social Clubs&nbsp;are peer-led, low-barrier activities that&nbsp;reduce isolation and improve mental&nbsp;wellbeing among older adults&nbsp;through programs&nbsp;focused on connection, cognition, and creativity.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/durhamcas.ca\/foundation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Durham Children\u2019s Aid Foundation<\/a>&nbsp;supports&nbsp;families in the child&nbsp;welfare system,&nbsp;helping&nbsp;older caregivers, often grandparents or kin,&nbsp;to&nbsp;reduce&nbsp;financial strain and access practical support to provide stable, nurturing homes for children.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/insightheartfoundation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">InsightHeart Foundation<\/a>&nbsp;fosters intergenerational connections and reduces isolation through Coffee Hour,&nbsp;where&nbsp;older adults and neurodivergent youth share community and friendship.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>We are inspired by the dedication of these organizations and the incredible impact they have on their communities.&nbsp;To learn more about&nbsp;Shannex&nbsp;Cares,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/shannex.com\/shannexcares\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">click here<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Shannex&nbsp;Cares is&nbsp;proud to&nbsp;announce&nbsp;another round of&nbsp;Shannex&nbsp;Cares Community Spirit Grant&nbsp;recipients.
