As a registered nurse and assistant manager at West Bedford Transitional Health, Rebecca\u00a0isn\u2019t\u00a0just helping patients recover &#8211; she\u2019s\u00a0part of a movement\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0changing the way care happens in Nova Scotia.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rebecca\u2019s journey started with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Dalhousie University and four years working in long term care. But it was the chance to be part of something new and exciting that brought her to <a href=\"https:\/\/shannex.com\/living-options\/transitional-health\/\">West Bedford Transitional Health.<\/a> Starting as a floor nurse, she quickly saw how this innovative model of transitional care was opening new doors for patients to regain their independence after hospital stays.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every day, Rebecca\u2019s role is filled with meaningful teamwork. She joins interdisciplinary rounds with nurse practitioners and the care team, stays on top of patient updates, and supports the nursing staff to ensure everyone works together seamlessly. For her,\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0this team approach- something\u00a0she\u2019s\u00a0loved since her days playing team sports &#8211; that makes all the difference.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>West Bedford Transitional Health focuses on patients over 18 who are medically stable but need extra support to move safely back home. Rebecca describes the facility as a place where every resource is used to promote independence, helping people not just recover, but thrive in their communities again.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What keeps Rebecca passionate about her work is the incredible success stories\u00a0she\u2019s\u00a0seen firsthand. Like a patient who\u00a0hadn\u2019t\u00a0walked in five to six years but, thanks to the physiotherapy and occupational therapy teams, is now taking steps again. Or another patient with complex social and medical challenges who left West Bedford Transitional Health to live independently and flourish.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rebecca encourages anyone stepping into this field to stay flexible and open to change, because transitional health is still evolving, and that adaptability is key to making a real impact.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Rebecca, being part of West Bedford Transitional Health means more than a job.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0about reshaping healthcare, lifting the pressure off hospitals, and most importantly, changing lives.
