We are proud to share that Shannex was a key partner to Mount Saint Vincent University in the creation of content for a microcredential called Ready to Lead (R2L). Ready to Lead is a six-month online microcredential program designed to help experienced Continuing Care Assistants (CCAs), Residential Care Workers (RCWs), and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) prepare for leadership roles in the field.
Launched in October 2024 and completed in June 2025, R2L provided 80 hours of professional development across six non-credit modules, including an understanding of the Nova Scotia healthcare system, leadership fundamentals, communication, building connections, ethical problem-solving, and personal growth. All R2L microcredentials have been developed using current, industry-relevant best practices.
The flexible format required two to three hours per week and was offered free of charge.
Congratulations to Alina Nechvolod, Paula Paez Lancheros (Maplestone Enhanced Care), Mark Aymar (Bissett Court), and Beverly Marriott (Arborstone Enhanced Care), members of our community, who participated in the program. Your leadership journey is just beginning!
“The course has taught me the importance of integrity, honesty, how to develop a great team, and how to earn trust. It was a great course”. (Marriott Beverley, Arborstone Enhanced Care)
“The ready to lead with Mount Saint Vincent University program was a brilliant way to learn and grow. The course load was appropriate to common trends in today’s leadership with healthcare and helped build developmental and informative relationships with peers and established leaders in our professional community. I am forever grateful for being included and look forward to similar opportunities in the future.” (Mark Aymar, Bisset Court)
Arrière“I was delighted to take part in the Ready to Lead (R2L) program through MSVU. It gave me new knowledge and skills about how to be not only a good leader but also a better team member. It was an opportunity to learn how to handle uncomfortable conversations, solve ethical issues and become a better listener. It inspired me to rely on my critical thinking more and less on my emotions. This course helps you create the mindset of a leader, teaches you how to inspire others, and gives you a better understanding of excellent customer service and the team-building process. I cannot be more grateful for having such a great opportunity to learn.” (Alina Nechvolod, Maplestone Enhanced Care)
