Moody Hall

Nursing Home

Moody Hall is a licensed long-term care community located on the grounds of Bloomsbury, a new lifestyle community in Bedford, Nova Scotia.

Opening in November 2024, Moody Hall will be home to 144 residents and will feature private suites and washrooms, ample natural light, wider hallways, and new equipment. The home is designed with six neighbourhoods for 24 residents. Every neighbourhood has dedicated nursing stations, dining rooms, living rooms, libraries and activity spaces.

At Moody Hall, a charming and spacious gathering area with a small-town atmosphere welcomes residents, visitors and team members alike. With a mix of storefront designs and gathering spaces such as a café, town hall, theatre, salon, and chapel, Main Street is a vibrant and purposefully designed social hub that encourages independence, community spirit and connection.

The home is named after Dr. Harold Moody who was a prominent humanitarian and civil rights activist. He spent time in the Bloomsbury area of London where he set up his own general practice after being denied from hospitals because of the colour of his skin. He also formed ‘The League of Coloured People’ with 70 other Central YMCA Club members (Bloomsbury) to support other people suffering racial discrimination.

Together, these features create an inviting, community-focused environment for social interaction and personal independence, making Moody Hall a unique and enriching place to call home.

Recreation

Wellness is more than just physical activity. We focus on a holistic approach to being well, which includes six dimensions of wellness: physical, intellectual, social, vocational, emotional and spiritual. Our recreation team members get to know each resident and design activities to suit their hobbies and interests.

Our Culinary Commitment

Our culinary commitment

Variety, choice, presentation, taste and nutrition are at the heart of every meal.

The Culinary Centre in Halifax is a state-of-the-art operation with a team of chefs and cooks who work collaboratively to develop menus and prepare meals for enhanced care residents. Our team ensures residents enjoy fresh, carefully prepared and nutritious meals.

Dietitians meet with residents to complete a nutritional assessment to understand their dietary requirements. This also provides an opportunity for residents to discuss allergies, sensitivities and food preferences.

Menus are designed to include as many fresh, seasonal and local products as possible. Creating these menus requires input from many people. Taste-testing and responses to the dining surveys provide insight and direction from the people who matter most — our residents.
