Our COVID-19 Response

Ensuring your health and safety is of the utmost importance. For your protection, we have robust and strictly enforced infection prevention and control procedures for everyone living in, visiting, or working within our communities. Our vaccination policy for all employees means you and your family can have peace of mind in our communities and know our team is protecting themselves and others from the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Community Protocols

The following is important information about our response to COVID-19. It is updated regularly and if you are searching for information not found here, contact us. Details about how to connect with us and receive updates are included below.

All our communities comply with public health directives for visiting. Please check with your location for information on the status of visits. Contact information for all our communities can be found here.

Updated Team Member Screening Protocol

All Shannex, Parkland and Faubourg team members participate in screening protocols before entering the workplace. These are consistent with directives issued by provincial public health bodies. This includes temperature checks upon arrival for their scheduled shifts and team members are required to enter their location via a designated entry point.

Staying Active and Connected

We continue to encourage residents to stay active while also respecting physical distancing principles. Staying connected with loved ones is also very important, especially during uncertain times. All communities have programs in place to help families connect with loved ones through video calls, telephone calls, email, or deliveries.

As part of our evolving response, we monitor and control deliveries closely to ensure we are following best infection control practices and protecting residents and team members. For details about how to arrange a delivery at your location, please contact a member of the management team.

Dining rooms and meal service will be adapted if needed to ensure physical distancing standards that comply with public health directives.

Increased cleaning and disinfecting protocols continue.

Site Communications Updates

Each community is sending regular site communications updates to residents and families. If you are not currently receiving these messages, please contact your community directly to be added to their email distribution list.

Infection Prevention and Control

Infection prevention and control is a shared responsibility of everyone in our communities and is supported by a number of internal experts.

An Infection Prevention and Control Specialist who is certified through the Canadian Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology and who oversees our Infection Control Program. In addition, each home has a specially trained infection prevention and control delegate who manages the implementation of the program at the nursing home level.

The majority of our communities feature single resident suites with private washrooms which are an important infection control component to mitigate the risk of infection transmission. These single rooms enable a resident to be easily isolated from others while still having all the comforts they need if they become symptomatic of illness or while being investigated for infection.
