In August, we are spotlighting our dedicated team members who contribute to community safety through our JOHSC (Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees).
Meet our next Safety Hero – Katie Jessome
Katie Jessome is a Social Worker at Arborstone Enhanced Care in Nova Scotia. She is one of our many dedicated JOHSC (Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee) members.
A team player, Katie is a firm believer that if we do not take care of ourselves, we cannot properly care for others. “I joined the JOHSC because I believe that ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our residents starts with ensuring the safety and wellbeing of ourselves and our co-workers,” she said.
Katie feels many actions can be taken to remain safe at work. Being aware of our duties, responsibilities, and surroundings is important to our safety. Additionally, it’s crucial to report hazards and safety concerns in real-time when you see them.
When asked what being truly safe means, Katie said: “You need to think about being proactive, not reactive. Safety is everyone’s responsibility regardless of your role!”
“Do your work with pride, put safety in every stride.”
