New Nursing Home Opens in Fredericton, New Brunswick

We are excited to announce the official opening of Medley Hall. This beautiful community will be home to 60 residents with the first moving in next week. The two-storey home has two neighbourhoods with 30 residents living on each floor. Each neighbourhood has a dedicated nursing station, dining room, living room, library and activity space. Each resident has a private suite and washroom ensuring privacy, dignity and safety.

The new home is connected to the other adjacent licensed nursing home, Neill Hall, through an indoor Main Street that promotes independence and a sense of community where residents enjoy spending time on a small-town street complete with a café, town hall, hair salon and multi-purpose room that serve as a chapel, theatre and community gathering space. It also includes courtyards with plenty of plants and flowers and space to sit and enjoy the good weather.

Medley Hall is named after Margaret Medley, wife of Bishop John Medley of Fredericton. She was a historic and resilient nurse who is said to have made an impact on healthcare as she innovatively used chloroform to ease pain in 1863. Soon after, doctors began to seek her support to provide comfort to their patients.
