Recently, 16 new continuing care assistants attended the newly rebooted Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) mentorship session held in the Colchester/Cumberland, NS region by Education Coordinator Jayne Barnhill.

The session included case studies and relevant practice scenarios aimed at creating exceptional mentors through developing skills and building mentoring relationships. Attendees enjoyed discussing the various adult education styles and completing exercises to determine their communication styles. Students felt they were welcome and had made new, solid relationships.

Through the Shannex Mentorship Program, new employees receive optimal support through coaching, asking questions, and learning about the role of a CCA while getting to know our residents.

“We value sharing expertise and experience with new team members and students. Because of this program we’re able to build stronger communities for our residents and our Great People,” said Stephanie Miles, Regional Manager, Enhanced Care, Colchester/Cumberland Region.

“I’m grateful for Jayne and all the team members who stepped forward to volunteer their time.”
