Shannex Leadership Program

This Fall, ten more Shannex leaders completed the Excelling in Leadership level of the Dalhousie University Executive Leadership Development Program, bringing the total to 40 leaders having completed this program over the past few years.

Each of the leaders enrolled in the program went through a rigorous application process. Delivered in partnership with Dalhousie University, the purpose of the Excelling in Leadership level of the Leadership Development Program is to enhance current leadership capacity and to support the creation of a diverse pool of future senior leaders. Successful completion of Excelling in Leadership enhances each participant’s abilities to work effectively in their present role as well as prepare them to take on increasing responsibility.  Specifically, Excelling in Leadership is designed to develop high potential leaders in four areas: Values Based Leadership, Self-Management & Self Awareness, Strategic, Creative and Solution- Orientated Decision Making, and Teams and Relationship Management.

The program consists of eight courses delivered over twelve months beginning in January and ending in November. Participant commitment involves: sixty-four hours in the classroom, approximately three hours of prep time before each of the eight classes, as well as time spent working on a group Action project.
