Shannex pilots Continuing Care Assistant program through NSCC

At Shannex, we’re dedicated to providing dignified, compassionate care to seniors. Care provided in nursing homes is a crucial part of Nova Scotia’s health system, keeps seniors at home – or in their new home longer – and prevents prolonged hospital stays.
Having the right teams of Great People is crucial to providing great care. Continuing Care Assistants are essential members of our care team – and we need more.
This is why we’re pleased to share that we’re partnering with the Government of Nova Scotia to meet our communities’ need for more elder care by piloting a new Continuing Care Assistant program at Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC). Eligible students will graduate and begin working in six months.
Shannex will provide a significant investment that includes classroom and lab space, partial wages for all participants, and guaranteed employment.
The program will graduate 48 students this year – one cohort of 24 students in April and an additional 24 students in October.
