Nursing Home Without Walls Launches in Fredericton, Supporting Seniors Accessing Services to Live at Home Longer

On Wednesday, December 4th, we celebrated the launch of the Nursing Home Without Walls (NHWW) program in Fredericton, N.B. The event, held at Shannex – Neill Hall, brought together community members, caregivers, and healthcare leaders to learn more about this innovative initiative that is designed to help older adults age in place, with the support and resources they need to live independently at home for as long as possible.
The afternoon was filled with insightful discussions, engaging interactions, and attendees had the opportunity to:
- Learn more about the NHWW program and how it supports older adults in Fredericton.
- Meet the NHWW team, ask questions, and understand how the program can benefit them and their loved ones.
- Enjoy light refreshments and a live musical performance, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone in attendance.
The event highlighted the collaboration between Shannex, Social Development, Université de Moncton, and Healthcare Excellence Canada. This partnership has enabled the NHWW program to expand into Fredericton, providing much-needed navigation services to seniors and caregivers in the region.
The program connects seniors to community-based care and services, aiming to improve quality of life and support independent living at home. Services include initiatives to combat loneliness, access to health information, and a community-driven approach to aging in place.
