We work with accredited institutions to coordinate structured student placements within our communities across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Ontario. If you are requesting placements on behalf of students, please review the process below.

Institutional Request Process
STEP 1: Confirm your institutional agreement with Shannex.
STEP 2: Complete the ‘Student Placement Request’ Form.

- Nova Scotia – Contact Colleen McKenna or add placement through HSPnet.
STEP 3: Shannex will confirm placement details.
Our Academic Program & Partnership Coordinator will contact institutions to confirm student placement details.
STEP 4: Institutions confirm placement details with students.
Institutions will provide each student with a date, location and ensure all required materials are completed in advance of their start date.

The Student Placement Process
STEP 1: Apply for a placement through your institution.
- Approach your academic institution about placement options at Shannex.
STEP 2: Your institution will confirm your eligibility and request your placement.
STEP 3: Complete required forms from institution.
- Once approved for a placement, the institution will send the required confidentiality and placement agreement forms.
- Please complete these forms and return them to the institution.
STEP 4: Your placement will be confirmed by your institution.
- A Shannex institution will be assigned to the student. Start date, requirements, and any additional information will be communicated through the institution.
- If you are in Ontario, ORCA training will be set up on your behalf and emailed to you directly. This training must be completed before your start date.
STEP 5: Review the student handbook and get ready for your first day.

All locations in NB and Ontario offer placements. *Bilingual proficiency is required for placements at Faubourg Du Mascaret.

Yes! Upon graduation, you will be eligible for a job in any of our buildings.
Even if you have not finished your schooling yet, we offer casual CCA positions for non-certified CCA’s to start working with us right away.
