In August, we are spotlighting our dedicated team members who contribute to community safety through our JOHSC (Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees).
Our JOHSC members make additional efforts to help enhance the physical and mental wellbeing of our residents and team members.
Meet Tanya Dill, a Continuing Care Assistant at Blomidon Court in Nova Scotia.
Tanya emphasizes the importance of pacing yourself and prioritizing safety over speed. She shares that communication is the key to creating a community with overall wellbeing. To enhance the safety standards of your community, it’s crucial to report risks, conduct regular inspections and handle equipment with mindfulness. Tanya wants to empower people to advocate for themselves and for residents.
When asked what it means to be truly safe at work, Tanya highlights the importance of connection and teamwork. “Creating a strong bond of trust with your team members will help our work environments stay free of hazards,” she says.
Tanya is an advocate for safety, she is passionate about making sure residents feel safe in their home and that team members feel supported in the workplace.
“No Safety, Know Pain. Know Safety, No Pain” , said Tanya.
