West Bedford Transitional Health is a place where healthcare is about more than recovery. It is about building connections, fostering independence, and supporting patients as they transition safely back to their homes. Every day, the team brings compassion, skill, and dedication to every patient interaction, creating an environment where progress and wellbeing are celebrated.
Two team members, Mandria Coleman (CCA/TCA) and Christel Santisteban (RN), showcase the expertise and purpose that make Shannex a Certified Great Place to Work. From helping patients achieve meaningful milestones to supporting one another as colleagues, their stories highlight the impact of a workplace where people feel valued, supported, and empowered to make a difference every day.

Mandria Coleman, CCA
Mandria came to West Bedford after working as a paralegal and in long term care. She was drawn to the Transitional Health program because it is thoughtfully designed to give patients a pathway back home or to the care setting that best fits their needs.
“I love making connections with patients and seeing them progress,” Mandria shares. “It is incredible to watch the mental and physical changes as they recover. The best part of my day is having time to sit and really get to know the people I care for.”
Mandria is proud of the impact she helps make, from rehabilitation to discharge. Each successful transition home is a moment of accomplishment that reflects the purpose-driven work of the team.
She also values Shannex’s support for employees. “Since joining, I’ve realized how much Shannex gives back, whether through clear communication or opportunities for additional education. It makes me feel valued and supported every day.”
Christel Santisteban, RN
Christel began her journey in long term care as a CCA and later became an RN with Shannex. West Bedford appealed to her because transitional health provides a unique opportunity to truly make a difference in people’s lives.
“Every day I aim to make an impactful difference,” says Christel. “Helping patients achieve recovery milestones and finding the best next step after discharge gives me immense satisfaction.”
Christel appreciates the flexibility and support from leadership. “Management understands the work we do and constantly provides support. Scheduling is flexible, which makes it easier to balance work and family while giving my best to patients.”
For Christel, the best part of the day is accomplishing tasks that directly help patients. Every step in their recovery journey is a moment to celebrate.
