If selected, you will be eligible for up to a maximum of $15,000 to support upgrading, tuition, examination preparation, and CPNRE exam costs. As part of the initial launch, employees in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick are invited to apply, and we will plan to expand the opportunity to employees in Ontario in the future.

To qualify for the program, applicants must:

  • Have worked with Shannex as a CCA* for 2 years; preference will be given based on length of service (or to those with longer service) 
  • Have a recommendation from your supervisor (no performance and attendance concerns) 
  • Agree to complete the program in no longer than 3 years (1 year to upgrade if needed and 2 years to complete the PN program)  
  • If required, agree to complete all academic upgrading requirements for eligibility into the PN program within 1 year from application 
  • Be accepted into the Practical Nursing Program in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick 
  • Be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident  
  • Be willing to sign a 4-year Return in Service agreement to work as an LPN with Shannex or repay a prorated portion of the bursary

Program Timelines

  • Information sessions will be held on May 19 at 10:00 AM and May 21 at 2:00 PM.
    • If you are unable to attend an information session, please email Emma at ecampbell@shannex.com and request the recording.
  • Applications submitted by June 5, 2026
  • Notification to successful candidates June 30, 2026

Going forward, we will be doing selection in January of each year.
