New Nursing Home in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

Today, in Dartmouth, N.S., members of the community came together to witness the official opening of Opal Ridge Hall. This new community will soon be home to 144 residents, spanning nine individual wings or “neighbourhoods,” with each neighbourhood being home to 16 residents.

Opal Ridge Hall offers a warm and welcoming environment. Every neighbourhood is connected by charming and spacious common areas featuring a home-like atmosphere with its own dedicated nursing station, dining room, living room, library, and activity spaces.

Also featured inside Opal Ridge Hall is an indoor Main Street. This space features a café, town hall, hair salon, and multi-purpose room that can serve as a chapel, theatre, and community or gathering space. Main Street is a vibrant and purposefully designed social hub that encourages independence, community spirit, and connection.

The event hosted valued guests, including Shannex President Jason Shannon; Cole Harbour-Dartmouth MLA Brad McGowan; Seniors and Long-Term Care Minister Barbara Adams; and Shannex founder Joseph Shannon. This launch marked the beginning of a new community-focused environment, built for social interaction and personal independence for older adults in Dartmouth.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in marking this special occasion.
