November 30, 2022

November 29, 2022, was Giving Tuesday. Existing in over 80 countries worldwide, Giving Tuesday is a global movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.

Our Shannex Cares Community Program is designed to support programs and initiatives that create visible and meaningful opportunities for elders to be seen, heard and valued for their wisdom and talents. Over the past few weeks, we have watched our team members do their part, coming forward to nominate organizations they feel are making a difference in their community. Great People Give donations are selected four times per year, and we couldn’t think of a better day than Giving Tuesday to announce our first recipients.

Over the past few weeks, we have watched our team members do their part, coming forward to nominate organizations they feel are making a difference in their community, and we are thrilled to share the recipients of the first Great People Give donations of $1000 each:

  1. Nova Scotia: Shelter Nova Scotia
  2. New Brunswick: Miramichi Accessible Transit
  3. Ontario: The Dorothy Ley Hospice

About the recipients:

They have housing support workers, and mental health and addiction services professionals. They serve more than 100 people every day and over 1,300 individuals annually.

Miramichi Accessible Transit

This non-profit service provides transportation that enables clients and senior citizens who are finding it difficult to continue to operate their own vehicle due to health reasons and the high cost of living.
