Shannex Cares – Great People Give

Our Great People make a difference in the lives of seniors every day. Through our Shannex Cares program, we want to help extend our support to community groups who are Elder Allies like you. The Great People Give donation fund is designed to support programs and initiatives that create visible and meaningful opportunities for elders to be seen, heard and valued for their wisdom and talents.

Improving the lives of seniors

Team members can nominate groups, individuals, or organizations considered strong “Elder Allies” in our communities to receive a donation of up to $1,000.

These nominations will be curated into a short list for team members to vote on the successful donation recipient. We aim to award a donation to a successful recipient in each province we serve (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Ontario) up to four times a year.

We’re thrilled to honour more Elder Allies with the latest recipients of our Great People Give donations.

Inspired by our Great People, these donations create meaningful opportunities to recognize elders for their wisdom and talents.

In Fall 2024, we supported three organizations:

Nova Scotia: Cumberland County Transportation Services
New Brunswick: North End Food Bank
Ontario: ErinoakKids Centre for Treatment and Development

Nova Scotia: Colchester East Hants Hospice Society

A caring, community-based organization that educates, supports, and provides tools to empower those who are struggling with grief.

New Brunswick: Salisbury Helping Hands

See everyone in the community of Salisbury, New Brunswick have access to food and basic necessities

Ontario: Ajax Seniors Club

A non-profit organization that plans, facilitates, and provides opportunities for seniors to come together in friendship.
