Jumpstart Your Nursing Career

Are you studying to become a Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or a Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) at a registered post-secondary education institution? Make industry connections and get valuable experience working in a Shannex nursing home community as a new member of the Shannex Care at Home team.

Full-time and part-time positions are available across Nova Scotia (Annapolis Valley, Antigonish, Colchester County, Cumberland County, Halifax Region, South Shore, Sydney). Successful applicants will earn $21/hour and receive a welcome package including a $250 gift card to Mark’s.

We’ll work with your schedule. Providing the best care for residents starts with great people and we recognize the importance of balancing school, work, life and self-care. The summer is a time for outdoor activities, sunshine and fun. Our team will make a plan that works for you – especially if you’d like to stay with us when classes resume.

As a member of the Care at Home team, you’ll experience long term care first-hand in a nursing home community managed by Shannex, a family-led organization that started in Nova Scotia more than 30 years ago.

Every day, residents welcome team members into their homes to do meaningful and fulfilling. Residents will rely on you to support their independence, happiness, health and wellbeing. You will work alongside other Care at Home team members as well as experienced healthcare and licensed professionals who are committed to your learning and development.

Meet Joelle and Donna

A dedicated RN, Joelle often shares the love for her career with others and is experienced in a range of acute and long term care settings. Her contagious smile and passion for compassionate care makes her a valuable contributor to our enhanced care team.

Donna, an experienced LPN, comes to work each day knowing she’s making a difference in the lives of residents. She says that nursing is her first love, and that nursing is more than administering medication or physical assessments, but about making each resident feel special.
