Among our Nursing heroes at Shannex is Véronique, a dedicated registered nurse with a passion for making a difference in the lives of her residents. With a background in health services management and a heart full of empathy, Véronique has become a pillar of strength in resident wellbeing.

Véronique embarked on her nursing journey after completing degrees in both nursing and health services management. Her role as a nurse at Pavillon Richard has not only involved providing medical care but also entails acting as a team leader and a comforting presence for residents’ families.

Véronique’s journey into nursing was ignited by her lifelong fascination with anatomy and a profound desire to make a positive impact on others’ lives. Her passion for helping others, combined with her love for science, seamlessly led her to transition into the nursing field, where she has found great fulfillment in caring for the residents of her community.

“I feel greatly privileged and rewarded for taking care of other people’s grandparents, and I like to treat them as though they were my own,” says Véronique. She advocates for the health and well-being of her residents, striving to provide personalized care that promotes independence while preserving dignity.

One memorable moment in her career involved providing comfort and companionship to a resident in her final days. This experience highlighted the critical role nurses play as secondary family members, especially in life’s most vulnerable moments.

For those considering a career in nursing, Véronique advises following one’s heart and instincts. She notes that the path can be challenging, but immensely rewarding, offering opportunities to make a real difference every day.

Véronique emphasizes the importance of empathy, understanding, and patience, especially when caring for residents with dementia. Her approach involves building meaningful connections and providing tailored care that recognizes each residents’ unique needs and preferences. Nurses Week holds special significance for Véronique and her colleagues. It’s a time to reflect on the challenges overcome, celebrate the victories, and appreciate the strong community of support among nurses at Shannex.

“The solidarity that National Nurses Week provides reminds us that we are not alone, that there are other nurses who feel the same things as us. Nursing week provides hope and perseverance and even encourages nurses to continue to push through.” At Shannex, nurses like Véronique shine brightly, embodying the values of compassion, dedication, and professionalism that define our community. We are proud to celebrate her and all our nursing staff who make such a profound difference in the lives of our residents.
