April 28, 2020

In recognition of the 2020 National Day of Mourning, our Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees would like to honour the workers who lost their lives, were injured or suffered illness in the course of performing their duties.

This year, the Day of Mourning takes on extra meaning with the healthcare employees working on the front lines and all the other essential personnel who have answered the call during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

It also hits very close to home for many families affected by the recent tragic events in Nova Scotia. Our thoughts continue to be with the families who have suffered unimaginable loss.

To our dedicated team members, thank you for working so diligently to protect our communities and keeping residents safe and well. Thank you also for looking after each other. We are grateful for your dedication and commitment.

Today, on this National Day of Mourning, our residents and team members will be observing a moment of silence at 11:00 am (AST).

Because one life impacted or lost is one too many, we will continue to work together to make the workplace safer for everyone.
