Two New Nursing Homes Open in Moncton, New Brunswick
Today, we are pleased to announce the official opening of Gordon Hall and Ocean Hall, two new 60-bed nursing homes located in Moncton, New Brunswick. Residents first moved into Gordon Hall in June and others will begin moving into Ocean Hall next week.
Home to a total of 120 residents, these two-storey communities each have two neighbourhoods with 30 residents on each floor. Neighbourhoods have dedicated nursing stations, dining rooms, living rooms, libraries and activity spaces. Each resident has a private suite and washroom ensuring privacy, dignity and safety.
The new homes are connected via an innovative indoor Main Street that promotes independence and a sense of community where residents enjoy spending time on a small-town street complete with a café, town hall, hair salon and multi-purpose room that serves as a chapel, theatre and community gathering space.
Inspired by the region’s shared history and traditions, the new homes’ names are linked to the railway system. Along with input from local residents and team members, the name Gordon Hall honors Gordon Yard, the formal name of the Moncton Hump Yard and CN’s principal yard visited frequently by long-distance and local trains. Ocean Hall is named after the oldest continuously operated named passenger train in North America. The Ocean, owned by Via Rail, moves commuters between Montreal and Halifax.
