Long-Term Care and Retirement Living

A healthcare and clinical professional with us can choose what environment they want to work in. They can provide care and medical services to residents living in our long-term care or retirement living communities. This means they can experience working with seniors living independently in their home or provide more frequent care to residents living in our nursing homes. The level of care can vary depending on the environment a senior is living in. For instance, a senior living in our retirement living communities may need less care than someone living in our nursing homes.

Continue Learnings and Education

While working with us, our team members can continue their education and learnings. We support healthcare and clinical professionals as they update their certifications or further their schooling such as a CCA studying to become an LPN or RN.

The care team within our nursing homes participate in regular training to help keep their knowledge and skills up to date. For example, formal training can include things like continued education on lifts/transfers, palliative care, and care plans. This can also be informal conversations about techniques, online education, and any questions that people may have.

Shannex’s Work and Learn program is another avenue that supports aspiring individuals wanting to become a CCA and PSW. This allows people interested in helping seniors living in our nursing homes by providing them with learning opportunities and hands-on experience.

Those wishing to be a Continuing Care Assistant will be paired with an educational provider to determine the best approach to obtaining this certification using the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Program. On the other hand, individuals wanting to become a Personal Support Worker in New Brunswick can enroll in our 12-week training program. After successful completion, participants can graduate and work as a PSW in nursing homes.
